African-American Organizations

  • Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA) - nonprofit organization comprised of law students, practicing lawyers, financiers, agents, managers and business executives in the music, sports, cable & broadcast television, film, new media, FCC regulation, concert production, management, marketing and publishing industries.
  • National Bar Association (NBA) - The nation's oldest and largest national association of predominately African-American lawyers and judges. Their national headquarters is located in Washington, DC, and their magazine, The National Bar Association Magazine, connects their 20,000 memberships of lawyers, judges, educators, and students.
  • National Black Law Students Association - A national organization formed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of black law students and effectuate change in the legal community.
  • National Black MBA Association, Inc. – A professional membership organization of Black graduates with MBAs, advanced degrees, and entrepreneurs. Established in 1970, the National Black MBA Association is dedicated to developing partnerships that result in the creation of intellectual and economic wealth in the black community.
  • National Congress of Black Women (NCBW) – A non-profit organization dedicated to the educational, political, economic, and cultural development of African American women and their families, including their participation in all levels of government. It’s goal is to increase African American women’s participation in the educational, political, economic, and social arenas, as well as provide opportunities for women in government, nonprofit, and private sector leadership positions.
  • National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) - One of the largest student-managed organizations in the country dedicated to increasing the number of black engineers who succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Asian-American Organizations

  • Asian American Advertising Federation – Member organization made up of Asian American advertising agency principals, media, advertisers and strategic partners to grow the Asian American advertising and marketing industry and raise public awareness of the importance of the Asian community.
  • Asian Women in Business (AWIB) - A not-for-profit membership organization to assist Asian women to realize their entrepreneurial potential.
  • National Asian Pacific American Bar Association - Only national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students, providing a national network for its members and affiliates.
  • National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) - All volunteer organization whose mission is to promote the personal and professional development of the Asian American community. Chapters in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle.

Latino Organizations

  • Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting - ALPFA creates opportunities, adds value, and builds relationships for its members, the community, and its business partners, while expanding Latino Leadership in the global workforce.
  • Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute,  (CHCI) - CHCI’s mission has been to develop the next generation of Hispanic leaders.  The organization’s vision is an educated and civically active Hispanic community participating at the local, state, and federal policy decision-making levels.
  • Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) - HACU strives to promote the development of member colleges and universities, to improve access to and the quality of post-secondary educational opportunities for Hispanic students, and to meet the needs of business, industry, and government through the development and sharing of resources, information, and expertise.  
  • Latino Leaders Network - The Latino Leaders Network (LLN) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to develop ongoing opportunities for Latino leaders to network, establish relationships, and dialogue on issues important to the Hispanic community.
  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers - SHPE is the source for quality Hispanic engineers and technical talent.

  • National Minority Supplier Development Council -The NMSDC provides a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses. The NMSDC Network includes a National Office in New York and 39 regional councils across the country. There are 3,500 corporate members throughout the network, including most of America's largest publicly-owned, privately-owned and foreign-owned companies, as well as universities, hospitals and other buying institutions. The regional councils certify and match more than 15,000 minority owned businesses (Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American) with member corporations which want to purchase goods and services.
  • United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce - The USHCC is a nonprofit organization founded in 1979 to advocate, promote, and facilitate the success of Hispanic businesses.
  • Latin Business Association - The LBA mission is to build economic wealth and opportunity for Latino Business Entrepreneurs.
  • National Council of Asian American Business Association (NCAABA) - An organization committed to bringing together the Asian Pacific American business community to create a national voice by effecting positive change in the areas of: economic development; public contracting and private procurement; public and fiscal policies that impact Asian Pacific American businesses and communities at large.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
  • NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) – A civil rights organization trying to effectively create change for African Americans and bring to light social injustices. Site: www.naacp.org
  • National Urban League - The nation's oldest and largest community- based movement devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream.
  • National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) – A nonprofit membership organization with a mission to lead, develop, and advocate for women of African descent.
  • Latin American Association (LAA) - The LAA is a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive transitional services for Latinos as they strive for self-sufficiency and an enhanced quality of life.  The association helps its members gain knowledge and skills necessary to fully participate in the larger community.
  • National Hispanic Medical Association - NHMA is a nonprofit association representing 36,000 licensed Hispanic physicians in the United States.  The mission of the organization is to improve the health of Hispanics and other underserved populations.

  • Asian American Writer's Workshop (AAWW) - A non-profit organization dedicated to the development, creation, publication, and dissemination of Asian American literature.
  • Asian American Journalist Association (AAJA) - Chapters in various cities and states including, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and Texas.
